Partridge Falls 3 (2010)
Lake Superior Area, Minnesota

The day was drawing to an end as we drove through the North Woods and past meadows heading ever north to the Pigeon River and the Canadian border.  We parked near the river.  The water was calm and peaceful, completely hiding the energy and power of the magnificent waterfall just a few hundred yards downstream.  We grabbed our camera gear and walked into the woods.  We could hear the waterfall well before we could see it.  We gingerly descended a steep cliff to get to its base.

As the daylight fades and the gorge darkens I can sense the spirits dancing in the water.  I feel a strong connection to this magical place.  Amidst the chaos I feel both comfort and a vague discomfort. The crashing and splashing will continue throughout the night.  We will depart soon and leave the festivities to them.
