Owens Valley (2010)

Sometimes you go out with one thing in mind and are presented with something entirely different.  Such was the case with this June sunset in the Eastern Sierra.  We were photographing a pond across the dirt road when I looked up and saw these wonderful colors in the clouds.  "Grab your cameras!" I yelled to the rest of the group.  We ran over to the meadow and set up as quickly as we could.  Light like this fades very quickly and there was only time for one shot before it started to fade.

What a beautiful area this is.  It's easy to see why of all the places on our earth this was Galen Rowell's favorite.
