As I drove north from Bishop, Ca on US-395 every side road summoned me – Tom’s Place, McGee Creek, Convict Lake – all places I had promised myself someday I would see. The aspens were turning but the sky was spattered with clouds that kept the sunlight from igniting the colors in their leaves. Finally I made it to Lundy Canyon and found a beautiful grove next to joyful Lundy Creek. And as I allowed myself to be absorbed into the woods the sun came out just enough to create this magic.
