Zabriskie Point 8 (2008)
Death Valley National Park, CA
Zabriskie Point remains one of
the most inspiring locations to photograph in
Death Valley. The play of light at dawn
and dusk on the shapes and forms of the badlands
makes for conditions that conditions that invite
the imagination to run wild.
I had this photograph in the
back of my mind for quite some time. I'd
stumble across it from time to time and tell
myself I'd get back to it. I always liked
it but there always seemed to be something more
pressing. Finally I decided to work on
this one and was delighted with what emerged.
It always felt soft to me but as I worked with
the colors the softness combined with a fuzzy
texture and the warm pastel colors to reminded
me of a baby's blanket.
