Zion Stream (2009)
Zion National Park, Utah
Most people enjoy
Weeping Rock in Zion National Park from
the shelter of the overhanging cliff
where they can stand behind the constant
shower of water. They look out
over the canyon below and marvel at the
hanging gardens, plants clinging to the
moist sandstone walls.
But on this day I
wandered the little stream that forms
below the weeping rocks from the
gathered waters. It moves from one
pool to another over tiny cascades.
One in particular caught my attention.
The random arrangement of rocks made a
pleasing pattern. The small
branches, sticks really, added
interesting lines. The green moss
on the red rocks added accents of color.
It was a place of tranquility, a place
to go to be quite and at peace.
