Paria View in Bryce Canyon
National Park is not photographed very often, at
least you don't usually see it in the big
picture books. But it offers a unique
perspective on the fins and hoodoos in Bryce,
much different from the magnificent main
amphitheater. You are much closer to them
and see them head on rather than from the side
or the top looking down. It presents some
unique photographic opportunities.
On this day in October of
2009 storm clouds were rolling over Bryce and
snow was even falling. I was enjoying
exploring this viewpoint under cloudy skies.
The light was perfect - soft, enveloping, the
kind of light that is perfect for a more quite,
intimate experience. I leisurely explored
the various compositions. At one point I
just stood quietly soaking in the landscape.
A well meaning person asked if I was waiting for
the sunlight. But the light was already
perfect.
