The autumn
afternoon is chilled with the early
hint of winter.
The aspen’s leaves, their
splendor spent, now modestly adorn
the forest floor.
I am drawn into the woods,
wandering aimlessly it would seem.
And then I come upon this
fallen tree.
I set up my camera and begin
to explore the scene before me.
I let myself go.
Each image becomes more
exciting.
I feel freedom and glee, a
return to my childhood.
I am giddy with delight.
The energy grows as new
wonders present themselves – until
suddenly my camera and I discover an
explosion of light what must surely
be a glimpse of heaven.
